Job Title: Technical Writer

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Writer to join our team, dedicated to producing and maintaining top-tier documentation that significantly contributes to our overall success. This role requires close collaboration with developers to create comprehensive software documentation, catering to both end-users and internal stakeholders. As a Technical Writer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring clarity, accuracy, and user-friendliness in our documentation, with a focus on technical manuals, tutorials, code diagrams, and API references. Additionally, you will conduct user testing to validate the effectiveness of the documentation for end-users.
  • Full Time 40 hours/ week
  • Benefits offered, but are contributory (health, dental, and vision)
  • Looking to have someone start April 1 for a 1year contract, potentially extending beyond that
  • Location: Hybrid in EITHER Pensacola FL OR Vienna VA. (don’t have to be in both, just must have the ability to work 12 days per week onsite in either location).
  • NO C2C arrangements at this time
  • Must be a US Citizen, GC Holder, or GC EAD to be considered.
  • Pay Rate: $35-$38/hr. Hours paid for hours worked, Full Time hours (40 hours/week).

  • Compile information requirements, objectives, functions, and features.
  • Gather technical information, prepare written text, and coordinate layout and manual organization.
  • Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts and technical staff to gain an in-depth understanding of products, workflows, processes, or other technical information.
  • Produce high-quality documentation with precise technical accuracy.
  • Transform complex documentation into easily understandable language for diverse audiences.
  • Create product manuals and tutorials to guide end-users in the use of applications.
  • Collaborate with internal team members (developers/programmers) to document code diagrams, API references, ETL processes, and other technical processes as needed.
  • Communicate complex ideas concisely.
  • Establish and maintain the information architecture and resource library supporting all functions of the organization.
  • Disseminate technical information in an easy-to-understand manner for a non-technical audience.
  • Write user interface text, online help, and developer guides in a clear and comprehensible manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related disciplines.
  • Significant experience researching, compiling, and documenting data, business processes, and workflow.
  • Extensive experience with content management.
  • Significant experience in developing technical documentation.
  • Extensive experience managing multiple priorities independently and/or in a team environment to achieve goals.
  • Experience creating/editing presentations using software or other types of material/media.
  • Desired – Experience creating and maintaining SharePoint applications/pages.
  • Advanced skill in communicating complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Advanced skill in identifying and analyzing technical requirements and recommending solutions.
  • Advanced research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Expert verbal and written communication skills.
  • Advanced skill in presenting findings, conclusions, alternatives, and information clearly and concisely.
  • Advanced skill in working with all levels of management, supervisors, stakeholders, and vendors.

  • Advanced skill to influence, negotiate, and persuade to reach agreeable exchanges and positive outcomes.
