Our Fortune 500 Aerospace client is looking for a Network Engineer with SD-WAN experience to join their team on a HYBRID basis in Annapolis, MD. This person serve will as a member of their Network Engineering team, sharing responsibility for leading and engaging in the architecture, evaluation and standardization of emerging network communication technologies, products and solutions in support of their Global Network.  This role will collaborate with other engineering team members and the business unit to set the current state and future direction of the technological landscape.  The candidate must be familiar with advanced networking concepts and technologies, including routing, switching, application centric, SD WAN and cloud-based technologies.  The candidate will be responsible for delivering conceptual designs and technical architectures suited to a variety of product, customer and market needs. The individual will be acknowledged as a thought leader within the business unit, credible and comfortable when engaging with executive leadership of both a technical and non-technical disposition. The candidate must be highly motivated, able to work in a collaborative team environment, as well as independently.

NOTE: Must be US Citizen or Green Card Holder. CANNOT work C2C.
Requirements:
  • Ability to commute to client’s headquarters in Annapolis, MD on a hybrid basis (3 days/week)
  • Expert level knowledge and demonstrated proficiency of network infrastructure concepts and techniques in large, complex, internetworked LAN/WAN and cloud-based environments.
  • Experience providing solutions and implementing infrastructures requiring 100% availability, near-zero latency, low jitter and response times.
  • Configuration, implementation and installation of various Cisco networking devices and services.
  • Significant experience with SD-WAN design, deployment and operations, preferably Cisco Viptela
  • Experience with Cisco Nexus platforms, VMWare, and server virtualization
  • Advanced knowledge in Data Center architecture
  • Hands-on systems-level understanding and an ability to learn and apply new concepts and technologies quickly.
  • Application of Security/Cybersecurity methodologies to network and systems design to provide secure services that support business requirements.
  • Application of Network Management concepts to manage and maintain highly available and reliable network services to support business requirements.
  • Knowledge of VoIP Telephony, and of SIP and H.323 protocols Experience with voice network design
  • Familiarity with SDN & SDDC technologies and their applications
  • Experience with Nexus 9K and VXLAN
  • Familiarity or experience with network automation
  • Experience with cloud-based technologies and tools.
  • Linux/UNIX, shell scripting languages: Shell, Perl, Python
  • Familiarity with daily operations of a data center or large NOC environment.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and maintain a productive and committed work effort, meeting deadlines and managing workload.
  • Must be able to use independent judgment to make decisions in day-to-day job responsibilities the majority of the time, under general supervision.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills with a demonstrated ability to articulate ideas in both business and technical terms (both verbal and written) -according to the audience, securing and sustaining their buy-in.
  • Ability to take the initiative in driving technical discussions with the relevant parties and not wait to be invited.
  • Ability to listen and be comfortable with their ideas being constructively challenged
  • Must be able to clearly depict and convey an understanding of technical design using a wide range of design notations and artifacts, as applicable to the audience.
  • Experience in using Visio and other contemporary tools for capturing system designs.
  • Attention to detail and experience providing solutions and implementing infrastructures requiring 100% availability.
Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the primary technical lead on projects that contain moderate to highly complex environments.
  • Lead and collaborate with other members of the Engineering team in the development of technical design solutions.
  • Develop and implement project plans within budgetary, schedule and resource constraints.
  • Capture, analyze, decompose and create requirements for systems, products and subsystems of moderate to high complexity.
  • Use an interdisciplinary approach, focusing on customer needs and business requirements, to design, develop, document, test and maintain systems ranging from the straightforward to highly complex.
  • Analyze and recommend contemporary and emerging technologies for deployment across the global network system architecture that may be applicable in addressing emerging product and market needs, taking into consideration the wider business context, risks, opportunities and constraints.
  • Devise technical product roadmaps depicting the steps anticipated to migrate from the current state to the targeted future state.
  • Deliver cost efficiencies by migrating the product portfolio over time towards a common target architecture where it makes sense to do so.
  • Ensure that design and development work undertaken by others within the Engineering team is aligned to the approved technical architecture for a given project/program.
  • Author, review and maintain documentation during all phases of the system design life cycle as appropriate and specified within documented process and procedure (Project Plans, Estimates, Requirements Documentation, Operational Scenarios, Design Documentation and Drawings, Sys Acceptance Test Plans, etc…).
  • Author, champion and have strong opinions on engineering design standards and best practices.
  • Act as a mentor to more junior engineers in all areas of the systems development life cycle.
