ICFR Controls Analyst

Job Description 

Our client is a Fortune 100 Credit Union Headquartered out of Vienna, VA. They're looking for an ICFR Controls Analyst to join their team on a HYBRID schedule in Vienna, VA. The role involves providing internal control guidance, evaluating control effectiveness, and recommending improvements to enhance the Internal Controls over Financial Reporting (ICFR) program. The position requires close collaboration with Lead Financial Statement Risk Analysts and key business partners to understand high-risk processes, financial statement risks, and key controls aimed at mitigating financial misstatements. Responsibilities include identifying, designing, and documenting internal controls, assessing financial statement risk related to third parties, and supporting audit responses.

Key Details 

  • Hybrid 2 days/ week onsite in Vienna, VA (3 days remote)
  • W2 Control role through October 2024 with potential to extend 
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without a sponsoring employer indefinitely. *we will only accept the following: US Citizens, GC Holders, TN Visa, Green Card EAD's. 
  • $60-$72/hr. Please note: This is a W2 contract that will include an hourly pay rate. The hourly pay rate is determined based on experience and qualifications met

Responsibilities 

  • Support all aspects of the ICFR Vendor Risk program.
  • Assess third parties for ICFR/financial statement impact.
  • Review SOC 1 (SSAE18) reports to evaluate third-party control environments, and work with business partners to identify, assess, and document user controls.
  • Assess and document ICFR-related Information Technology General Controls (ITGCs) to address control gaps in design effectiveness.
  • Assist in defining audit scope, evidence, priorities, and testing procedures in collaboration with external and internal auditors.
  • Evaluate the performance of existing controls and devise remediation strategies aligned with risk mitigation methodologies.
  • Support multi-disciplinary control initiatives to assess and transform control gaps into mature control environments.
  • Gather, review, and update existing policies, process narratives, and process models/flowcharts to understand current business processes.
  • Research industry best practices related to ICFR vendor risk and ICFR in general.
  • Solve complex control-related business problems by defining issues, interviewing stakeholders, evaluating alternatives, and presenting findings.
  • Manage time and workload to ensure efficient and timely project outcomes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Significant experience with ICFR.
  • Extensive knowledge of SOX, including GAAP principles, financial statement preparation, and internal accounting controls.
  • Strong experience in reviewing or preparing SOC 1/SSAE18 reports.
  • Proven experience in Third Party Risk Management activities.
  • Expertise in redesigning processes and identifying control gaps consistent with a mature ICFR program.
  • Proficiency in extracting and documenting business process controls and IT application and general controls (e.g., access controls, change controls, segregation of duties).
  • Experience in assessing the design and operating effectiveness of key controls.
  • Excellent communication and interaction skills with multiple stakeholders and management.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities independently or within a team environment.
  • Effective skills in interpreting and synthesizing large amounts of information.
  • Strong research, data compilation, and documentation skills, with proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, and Visio.
  • Strong presentation skills, with the ability to clearly and concisely present findings and conclusions.
  • Advanced interpersonal skills for interacting with staff, management, vendors, and members diplomatically and tactfully.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field, or equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.

  • Advanced knowledge of CLIENT’s functions, philosophy, operations, and organizational objectives.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation.
  • Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) designation.
